Elior Sterling (he/him/his)

Headshot of storyteller, Elior

Elior Sterling is a 51-year-old, white, Jewish, transgender man. He is an activist and a writer who “feels a lot more comfortable to be creating a story where we already have one ‘happy ending’ as a model, so the character who is dealing with their own challenges has something to hang his optimism on. As an activist whose been feeling pretty burnt out for a few years now, this fictional exploration can also be a chance to remember positive lessons I've learned along the way.” You can read Elior’s writing on his webpage, The Crows’ World. Elior has been regularly visiting Walla Walla, WA, where his son and grandchild live, since 2011. In 2018, he moved to Walla Walla full time to help take care of his grandchildren. Here, he talks about his coming out experiences, his family relationships, seeking and building a supportive community for himself and others in Walla Walla and beyond, and his ongoing activism.
